About

Hi, my name is Hodan Ibrahim and I am a serial entrepreneur, publisher, author marketing consultant and blogger. This is where I share lessons I’m learning.

I have a passion for living life to the fullest, fulfilling my potential as a human being and supporting the socio-economic empowerment of poor, marginalized and underresourced people, in North America and abroad.

I am the Founder and CEO of Think Disrupt a new media publishing company serving the creative maladjustment of the non conforming minority launching early 2015. I’m Managing Director at FWD MVMNT, a digital marketing and design agency I set up with my awesome business partner Melissa Athina. I’, head of  Marketing and Product Development at UmmahHub, a platform dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and changemakers within the Muslim community by providing actionable knowledge to our next generation of entrepreneurs, change-makers and doers.

The purpose of Journey of a Muslim entrepreneur is to be a source of inspiration and change for those who refuse to settle for anything less than an extraordinary life and want to contribute to systemic-level impact. This blog is especially aimed at economically empowering people of color and those individuals from historically marginalized and underresourced backgrounds.  On this website, I will openly and passionately share all of the tools, resources, and strategies that I continue to discover that have made a measurable difference to my quality of life, and will for you as well.

This blog is all about empowering innovators, entrepreneurs, and businesspeople to think disruptively- about themselves and the world around them. I share tips, advice and highlight stories and research entrepreneurship, digital marketing, lifestyle design, publishing, social change and economic development. I hope this blog makes a difference in your quality of life.

  2. Salaam Hodan, I’m uber excited about your blog, I happened to stumble across it while searching entrepreneurship ideas through google’s search engine. I am a young wife and mother of two with a bit of cash and I really want to wok from home, but I’m a little stuck for innovative ideas, I need to think harder. I hope I can find some inspiration here inshaAllaah x

    • Salam Ilham!

Very nice to meet you 🙂 That’s so awesome hear! I’ve had a few other Muslim sisters connect with me about entrepreneurship. I really try to champion this idea because it’s a fantastic way to economically empower yourself and design your life in a way that can accommodate motherhood rather than compete with it.

Bless you in your journey through motherhood. I can’t think of anything harder and more rewarding and more important than raising the future generation! 🙂

A friend of mine is a young mother like you with a child and another on the way. She is an amazing example of a strong female with ambition. She ended up starting her own graphic design business and catering. She combined her skill in doing design graphically with weddings. She designs invitation cards, posters, cupcakes and other pastries while at home to deliver to weddings.

I’m sure you have tons of ideas everyday but don’t know it! The first thing I can give you advice on is to think of 10 skills you are really good at and enjoy. Can you bake? Do you have writing skills? Do you love children and have the ability to teach?

You can open your own little custom cupcake shop online, or a freelance editor and writing business or a home school to teach children. Start small. Start with reaching out to your immediate friends and family, ask them what they want and just go for it!

My personal email is hodansibrahim@gmail.com. If you wanted to bounce ideas off me or just chat some more, I’d be happy to talk! Love to hear your thoughts on other ideas you’d like to see written here.

Best wishes on raising your two little ones and following your dreams.

      Hugs xox
